Graphic Standards Manual
In 2007 Red Dot rolled out a new logo. To support that effort I developed a 62 page Graphics Standards manual.
Corporate Capabilities
We developed several variants on this Corporate Capabilities flyer to target the US, Europe, military sales and to promote the company's test lab capabilities.
Product Literature
I created literature for over 50 products, implementing a standardized, branded layout that required design adjustments, depending on the product(s).
Aftermarket Parts Catalog
In the late 90s Red Dot's catalogs were a bit over a quarter of an inch thick. By 2015 they were an inch thicker and there were four of them (including customer catalogs). My biggest accomplishment with these catalogs was developing a system of using InDesign ability to apply one style after another to a text block. Making complex, multi-page lists of parts a relative breeze to assemble. Here's a sampling the the content of the 2016 book.
Print-Based OEM Proposals
Starting in the late 90s I worked with the OEM sales team to raise the bar on their proposals. This began with disassembling a rather rambling Word file and breaking out key elements, expanding on component descriptions and creating easy-access pricing. I also emphasized including an Appendix of supplementary material to show we'd "done our homework." These were initially ALWAYS shipped to the customer as hard copies so we could control the look and feel of the presentation.
Digital-Only OEM Proposals
In 2015 it became clear that Red Dot no longer needed to present hardcopies to its customers. I redeveloped the earlier portrait-format proposal template (which we had been delivering in both print and digital format) and produced what you see here. There are two variants, showing some alternate presentations. And, of course, there is built-in page navigation for full-screen viewing.
How HVAC Works
A briefing document for the uninitiated.
Product Rollout
A major product rollout for Red Dot. Literature shows the company's earlier logo.
Distributor Newsletters
Here's a monthly newsletter developed to be emailed as a PDF to Red Dot's 200 authorized distributors.
Factory Training Guide
In 1999 we began the development of flip books to train factory workers on various types of equipment and skills.
Preventive Maintenance Flyers
In conjunction with the warranty and marketing departments I created a three-tier system of flyers promoting preventive maintenance for air conditioning systems.
White Papers
Developed a standardized format for Red Dot to use to publish "white papers."
Advertising
A few ads promoting Red Dot to the trades.
Installation Instructions
In the mid 2000s Red Dot created nearly two dozen installation instructions for retrofitted HVAC units in military HMMWVs. I oversaw photo development and writing.
Company Newsletter
Begun in 2001, the eClimate newsletter was published weekly (print and electronic) to provide employees with news and financials.
Training Certificates
A series of training certificates with a strongly branded style.
Desk Calendar
Every year Red Dot publishes a large-format desk calendar for its customers. The challenge for me was to create a file that would be (relatively) easy to update every year. Through judicious use of updating links, I was successful.
